From 8 December, GSK Contemporary at the Royal Academy of Arts will feature Burroughs Live, an exhibition paying tribute to the American novelist, beat artist and film maker William S. Burroughs. By means of video footage, film and artistic collaborations, this exhibition will aim to establish the presence of William S. Burroughs the man and the influence the beat artist had, and continues to have on several generations of artists. This exhibition will feature film work such asThanksgiving Prayer and Towers Open Fire, and a film screening supporting the exhibition including David Cronenberg's Naked Lunch and Gus Van Sant's Drugstore Cowboy. The exhibition will also feature a series of photographic portraits by Annie Leibovitz (pictured), David Hockney, Robert Mapplethorpe and Damien Hirst.

Celebrating 40 years of the ICA Cinema on The MallThe Institute of Contemporary Arts is proud to mark this cinematic milestone with Club Deluxe; a month of films that exemplify our thrilling history of imaginative, experimental and informed programming. Join us, as we toast the spirit of our past and present, and look forward to another 40 years of championing the very best in independent and world cinema. 

Club Deluxe will present a carefully selected banquet of 18 films from artfully deranged classics to uncompromising celluloid treats; a selection of truly inventive and stylish films by the world's most visionary, provocative and exciting directors all of whose work has been seen and celebrated at the ICA.

Opening Club Deluxe will fittingly be Herostratus the first film ever to be screened at the ICA's own cinema in May 1968. Other highlights include AkiraChungking Express and Atanarjuat, the Fast Runner. As a special treat there will be weekend double bills with the likes of Goddard's Weekend + Sympathy for the DevilAkira + Irma Vep, The Trip +Candy and many more.
