THE ANIMATE! BOOK

Benjamin Cook and Gary Thomas (eds)

The Animate! Book explores the interrelation between art and animation through the animate! project, a Channel 4/ Arts Council England commissioning scheme, now in its fifteenth year, which has supported some of the most groundbreaking animation work in the UK. Specifically the book questions received notions of animation in the early twenty-first century where new technologies and practice have shifted emphasis from traditional notions of frame-by-frame process towards the endless possibilities of synthesis. The book also includes interviews with six contemporary British animators and a DVD with examples of key British animation works.
